Channel objects are very simple. They only specify a name and a the amount of floating point valued sub channels. However, channels play an important role when building customized rendering styles and solutions. By using channels, you can attach an unlimited amount of attributes, which are available in material shaders and rendering engine modules, to complete objects as well as their geometry points.

Currently three types of channels are available:

  • Float: a single floating point value channel
  • Color: a RGB triplet of floating point values
  • Vector: three values for the x, y and z dimensions
